Our Programming
At SF Parks Alliance, our goal is to encourage people to get out and explore their parks. Over the years, we’ve found that one of the best ways to achieve this goal is through event programming. Check out some of our event-based programs below, taking place all over the city!
Golden Gate Bandshell
Courtesy of SF Parks Alliance, Illuminate and the SF Parks & Recreation Department, live music has returned to Golden Gate Bandshell’s iconic stage! The lineup of performers returning to the stage is highly diverse and local, with over 100 free outdoor concerts scheduled to take place through the end of 2022.
Public Space Summit
Our annual Public Space Summit returns on Thursday, May 12! Join us for a day full of community-building, learning and networking with like-minded folks who understand the power of our parks. The 2022 Summit will explore topics such as kick-starting your neighborhood project, fundraising with ease, engaging with volunteers, and so much more. We hope to see you there!
Sundown Cinema
Love movies? Love your parks? Join us at our annual Sundown Cinema movie nights in the park! Each summer, we head to some of our favorite parks to host a movie night, complete with food and drinks from some of the best vendors in the city. Members get discounts on reserved seating and drinks on us.

Due South
Due South is a new concert series at Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in McLaren Park! We partnered up with Friends of the Garcia Amphitheatre and the SF Recreation & Park Department to bring this exciting new series to life. This summer concert series features artists and groups to introduce audiences to new music from all over the world.
Bloomtown
In Fall 2021, SF Parks Alliance in partnership with Building 180 brought Bloomtown to life on Union Street: a multi-layered, interactive art experience. This installation included large-scale inflatable dahlias and never before seen murals placed on rooftops and throughout storefronts, inspiring curiosity and joy for all visitors. Bloomtown aimed to encourage the rediscovery of the street’s local merchants, restaurants and retail.
Entwined
In its second year, Entwined transformed Golden Gate Park’s Peacock Meadow into an enchanted forest of otherworldly shapes and ever changing light. The installation, created by local artist Charles Gadeken, created a whimsical wonderland where visitors were free to explore a grove of colorful sculptural trees and immerse themselves in the intersection of art and nature.
Party for the Parks
Each year, SF Parks Alliance hosts a gala like no other. Complete with a cocktail reception, buffet dinner, and live auction, Party for the Parks raises critical funds for important civic projects. The party is held in a different location each Fall, so join our newsletter to be first to know where and when tickets go on sale!

Citywide Public Space Initiative
The San Francisco Parks Alliance has partnered with San Francisco’s Office of Workforce Development to pilot a new program that helps communities improve their public spaces. Our goal for this ongoing project is to create and champion recurring, community-led activation and beautification projects that encourage park users to make the most of their public spaces.

Golden Gate Park 150th Anniversary
2020 marks the 150th Anniversary of Golden Gate Park (GGP150). As an international tourist attraction and urban oasis, Golden Gate Park serves as a public space where people can connect, relax, and enjoy nature. GGP150 will celebrate the park’s history and importance within the city.
